How To Get Your Book Published

Every writing course will help you write better, give you tips and tricks to improve your craft. But this s the ONLY writing course that will help you actually get published. Allaboutwriting presents their second Getting Published workshop with David Chislett in Johannesburg on the evening of Wednesday 7 December.

“Like most artists, many writers know nothing about how the business side of their industry works,” explains Chislett, “This workshop is designed to not only explain the structures, costings and procedures you will encounter, but also to give you sound strategic and business information to help you navigate the common pitfalls of approaching and dealing with publishing houses.”

Chislett will be presenting the Getting Published workshop at Allaboutwriting’s base in Johannesburg on 7 December. The workshop, which runs from 6 to10pm, will show participants how to take their manuscripts from their bottom drawers to the shelves of bookstores – real and virtual and with a publisher or without.

Writers are encouraged to sign up early for the workshop because Allaboutwriting is running an early bird special for signup in October and November of only R500.00. Thereafter the cost of the workshop is R600.00.

The Getting Published workshop explores what it takes to get from idea to manuscript to print. It does not attempt to teach participants what or how to write. But what it will do is help them to position themselves to publish their book successfully. It also covers developing a profile as a writer and marketing. The ideas shared will help, inspire and expand new, aspiring, and even experienced authors.

As one of our satisfied participants has found out, the workshop is very practical!
“Hi David. You might not remember me but I attended a workshop of yours on how to get published a few months back. You’ll be pleased to know it was not a waste of time because I received an offer for my book yesterday. One lecture and you taught me all I needed to know on how to get published. Thanx man!” — Harry De Jonge

The workshop draws on Chislett’s knowledge and experience from marketing in the publishing industry, compiling and editing short fiction, being a published author and self-publishing a music industry text book.

Sounds good. Do you also touch on the publicity side of things?
